Lenovo ThinkPad X100e, Mini 10 & Mini 11 Spotted At FCC With Built-In WiMAX
Based on some information uncovered in a recent FCC filing, it looks like the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e is going to be released as a WiMAX equipped notebook in the future. Except the catch here is the same as all other FCC listings, they come without any official release information from the manufacturer.

That said though, this should not stop anyone from hoping to see a WiMAX equipped ThinkPad X100e smile just a little bit. As for what the listing actually mentions — it looks like the ThinkPad X100e will be getting the support by way of Intel’s 622ANXHMW card which will bring WiMAX, WLAN and Bluetooth connectivity.
In terms of that particular model, other features that you can expect to find include an 11.6 inch display with a 1366 x 768 pixel resolution, full sized keyboard, multi-touch trackpad, 1.6GHz AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, ATI Mobility Radeon HD3200 graphics, a 250GB hard drive, 2GB of RAM, memory card reader, 0.3 megapixel webcam, 6 cell battery and the 32 bit edition of Windows 7 Professional.
Additionally, the usual array of ports and connectivity are included such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, three USB ports, Ethernet, VGA, microphone in and headphone out. As it stands, the current ThinkPad X100e measures in at 8.2 x 11.1 x 1.2 inches and weighs about 3.2 pounds.

And in addition to the ThinkPad X100e, that same FCC listing also made mention of a WiMAX equipped Mini 10 and Mini 11, though there is some confusion as to where this later two models will be released. The thought with that comes in how these models are listed under the “Lenovo (Japan) Limited” name. That suggests they may be nothing more than regional variations of the X100e.
Anyway, with that it looks like we are left waiting to hear something official from Lenovo. In the meantime, those hoping for a WiMAX equipped ThinkPad at least have a model they can add to their device wish list.
