iPhone 3G Android Boot Now Available to Anyone

Android Port for iPhone 3G Ready to be Downloaded & Installed on Your Apple Handset; Get Dual-Boot iPhone at Your Own Risk

Just a while ago we showed you Android running on the iPhone 2G and now it looks like everyone that wishes to turn the iPhone 3G into an Android handset can do so, at their own risk, as the custom ROM is officially available to download and install on your Apple device.

Considering that we’ve just seen an amazing Google I/O conference this year which left us with the impression that Google’s Android is in a better position to fight Apple’s iPhone, the timing of releasing this custom idroid ROM for the iPhone couldn’t be better. Cupertino is surely not happy to hear that anybody that wants to turn the iPhone 3G into an Android device will be able to do so.

Of course you’ll all have to know that performing such actions requires jailbreaking your handset, which is not something your carrier or Apple would like to see you do. Moreover, this Android build is still an early version even if publicly available. You’d be better of waiting for the next version, which will surely come, and stick with iPhone OS 3.1.x for now.

One of the most important issues with this Android for iPhone version is that the battery will only last for an hour with Android running which will definitely not work for any of you.

Like with the iPhone 2G, the iPhone 3G Android ROM will offer you dual-boot capabilities which means you’ll be able to switch between iPhone and Android at your convenience. But running Android for more than an hour is currently not available so why would you run it for less than that? Keeping the iPhone plugged in all the time isn’t really a solution, is it?

Power management functions will be probably available in the next versions of this idroid ROM, and we also expect the creator of this smart hack to bring Android to other Apple mobile devices like the iPod touch or the iPad.
