Google Nexus One Android 2.2 Froyo Update Coming in the “Next Few Weeks” [Google Says Nexus One Will Get Android 2.2 Soon; Is That Really So?]
As you already know from earlier today, the Google Nexus One can already run Android 2.2 Froyo and you could have yours running Google’s latest firmware update if you really want to. The problem is that not every Nexus One owner should do all that manual labor as Google and HTC should offer an upgrade as fast as possible.

Following yesterday’s Google I/O keynote we also know that all HTC smartphones manufactured this year, including the HTC EVO 4G, HTC Incredible, HTC Desire and myTouch Slide will also get Froyo by the end of 2010. The only problem is that we still don’t know when that’s going to happen.

Fortunately Google was kind enough to spill the beans, or at least partially spill them, when it comes to the Android Froyo arrival to Google’s flagship, and only, pure Android smartphone. According to a tweet from today from Google’s GoogleIO account, the Nexus One will get Froyo soon:
Froyo on Nexus One soon! (next few weeks)
That’s what the tweet says and it will surely be an impressive PR stunt to have HTC come up with Froyo that fast. It’s also easy to assume that once the Google Nexus One is updated to Android 2.2 all the other hot HTC Android smartphones will follow which is definitely good news for HTC EVO 4G and HTC Droid Incredible buyers.

Because Google also said that:
Froyo will be made available to OEMs and the open source community in the coming weeks.
Considering that the iPhone 4G is coming in just a few weeks, it will be an even better image stunt to have Froyo come out, at least on the Nexus One, while the WWDC 2010 gets underway or immediately following it.
According to recent leaks and rumors the iPhone will be launched on June 7 and it will go to stores either in the following days or in the following week(s). But what if some of its competitors would be running an OS that’s just a little hotter than the iPhone OS 4.0? Will that affect Apple iPhone sales?
