Apple MobileMe Gets Updated [Apple Rolls Out More Updates For MobileMe To Include The Gallery, iDisk, Contact Sync & More]

A short while back Apple began offering interested users access to the new beta version of MobileMe Mail, and it seem as if they have also rolled out some other improvements in the remaining MobileMe services. Some of the other areas that have been updated recently include the Gallery, iDisk and contact syncing as well as your general account and Find my iPhone.

Starting with the Gallery improvements and it looks like you can expect to see a Gallery app for viewing shared photos and movies on iPhone and iPod touch, as well as support for video publishing in Aperture 3.

Next up is the iDisk, and here it looks like there has been improvements made in the reliability when using Mac OS X 10.6.3 or later as well as “iDisk app support for email address auto-completion when sharing files, and copying images to the clipboard on iPhone and iPod touch.”

As for the contact syncing, this one is simple, but should be welcomed by MobileMe users. In this case Apple has improved the sync reliability when using either OS X 10.6.3 or the MobileMe Control Panel (version 1.5.2) on Windows.

Moving on and Find my iPhone was given Safari access on the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch.

Next up are the general account changes. And again this one should be welcomed, if for no other reason than it deals with security. In this case there is now a password strength indicator which should help ensure that you choose a good password. Additionally, you now also have the ability to convert an email aliases to family pack member account.

And last but not least is the addition of SSL access for web applications on the me.com website.

Also, just to recap those changes that you can find in the new beta version of MobileMe Mail. Those include;

  • Widescreen and compact views
  • Rules to keep your email organized everywhere
  • Single-click archiving
  • Message formatting toolbar
  • Improved performance
  • Increased security with SSL

Of course, those MobileMe Mail changes come in addition to a complete new look. And in the end, I am still hoping to see the earlier rumor in regards to MobileMe going free come true.
