T-Mobile has just made the release and pricing information for the myTouch 3G Slide Android smartphone official. In short, the handset will be available beginning as of June 2nd and will come with an on contract price tag of $179.99.

As for that June 2nd release, that will be limited to T-Mobile retail retail stores, online and at “select authorized dealers and partner locations.” Afterward, beginning on June 16th, T-Mobile will roll out additional availability. Now for the bad news on the price — that $179.99 comes after after a $50 mail in rebate. In other words, you can expect to shell out $229.99 in order to make the initial purchase.
With the pricing and availability information out of the way, most of the details in regards to the phone itself have already been long since leaked, however lets just do a little recap now that they are official.
First things first, the myTouch 3G Slide will come in a trio of colors to include black, white and red.
As for the features, this handset will come sporting the Swype virtual keyboard and bundled with doubleTwist for your media synching needs. Otherwise, there will also be the 3.4 inch HVGA touchscreen display, full slide out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack and 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash. Other features include a microSD card slot that will come with an 8GB microSD card pre-installed.
Moving onto some of the software features and we find Android 2.1, the Faves Gallery and Genius Button as well as access to all of the Google goodies to include Gmail, Google Maps and Maps Navigation. And because this is Android 2.1 you should not have much to worry about in terms of which apps you can, or cannot download. In other words, you can have all of the newer ones that only support the later Android builds such as Google Googles and Runkeeper just to name a few.
