Apple Now Accepting Cash Toward iPad Purchases [No Credit Needed: Apple Changes No-Cash Policy, Will Now Allow You To Purchase An iPad With Cash]

It seems that Apple has had a change of heart in regards to their no-cash policy on iPad purchases. This of course stems from the recent ABC 7 story on how Diane Campbell was denied a purchase because she did not have a credit card.

Anyway, it seems that Apple listened up and changed the policy based on that same ABC 7 news story. That means Diane Campbell has since been permitted to get her iPad. It also means that moving forward anyone will be able to make an iPad purchase with cash, or credit if they prefer. The one, albeit minor catch with the cash purchases is that they will be permitted “as long as they set up their Apple account at the store.” Of course, an Apple account is required on any level so whether you set it up at home or in the store you are doing the same thing.

Interestingly enough, according to Apple Sr. Vice President Ron Johnson, that no-cash policy was not in place to stop black market sales as many had speculated. Instead it was put in place as an attempt to track iPad sales and limit individual purchases at two per person, that way there would be enough inventory to go around. And I guess since the initial rush has died down, now is as good a time as ever to allow cash purchases.

As for Diane, she was noted as saying, “I am just so excited.” Of course, she should be. Not only did she help change the silly policy, but she also got two things that most people will never see. First her iPad was personally delivered by two Apple employees, but perhaps the nicer part — her iPad was given to her for free. And now you can understand why she was so happy.

And with that, anyone with some cash can now stroll into their local Apple retail store and make an iPad purchase. That said, you may want to call ahead and make sure the model you are hoping to purchase is actually in stock.
