Android Based eviGroup Wallet MID Now Available & Priced At €199 [eviGroup Wallet Android MID With 5" Display, Wi-Fi & Android 1.5 Now Shipping]

The long awaited eviGroup Wallet mobile internet device has been moved from a coming soon to a currently available status. Though, its availability seems to be limited to those located in France, where its selling for as low as €199. Still, the Wallet MID does have some appeal and would be interesting to see come available elsewhere in the world.

First things first, that ‘as low as’ price mentioned above is for the Wallet with a matte black exterior. And for those looking for a slightly more flashy style, the Wallet MID is also available in a chrome finish which sells for a slightly more expensive €219. For those not familiar with the current rates of exchange, those €199 and €219 price tags would roughly convert to $252 and $271 in terms of US dollars.

Moving on past the price though, lets get into the features. The eviGroup Wallet comes touting a 5 inch resistive touchscreen display with a resolution of 800 x 480. Other features include 1GB of internal storage, a microSD card slot for additional storage, a Samsung ARM 6410 processor at 533/667 MHz, 256MB RAM, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Ethernet, 3.5mm headphone jack, mini USB port and a 2000 mAh battery that was noted as being able to offer up to 6 hours of use.

Additionally, the Wallet will measure in at around 5.2 x 3.42 x 0.55 inches and carry a weight of 6.52 ounces (with the battery installed). Other perks of the purchase include a pair of headphones, charger and USB cable as well as a car charger and suction cup mount.

All things considered, this seems to be a pretty decent offering. Though there is one catch — the build of Android that is installed is 1.5. And at this point that seems to be getting dated, if for no other reason than some of the newer apps hitting the Market need 1.6 or 2.1 or later.
