Samsung Wave S8500 Comes Available For Pre-Order In Germany

This is certainly not the first time we are hearing about the Bada OS based Wave S8500 smartphone from Samsung, but with a little bit of a positive spin — the phone is now available for pre-order. Well, its available for those that are living in Germany anyway. And while that rules a good majority of us out, its still nice to see that Samsung has kept true to their promise of releasing the Wave S8500 in May.

Speaking first in terms of pricing, the handset comes in at €429, which for those of us who speak only in terms of US dollars, that is around $545. And while that may sound a little on the high side, it is for an unlocked phone.

In terms of features, the Samsung Wave S8500 marks the first smartphone to come available running Bada OS, which is the mobile operating system that comes directly from Samsung. Otherwise, those that make the purchase can expect to find a 3.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen display with WVGA resolution, 1GHz processor, HSDPA/HSUPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, aGPS, Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack and a 5 megapixel camera with LED flash and video recording at 720p quality. In addition to the Bada OS, the Wave S8500 will also come sporting the TouchWiz 3.0 user interface on top.

And last but not least, a few other little perks that can be found on the Wave S8500 include support for DivX and Xvid as well as an FM radio.

Finally, as I mentioned earlier in the post, as of now this is still in pre-order status. But the actual availability is not all that far off. It looks like Samsung has a party planned for May 30th at the King Kamehameha Beach Club for the official unveiling. In the end, the Wave S8500 may not get as much attention as some other smartphones due to the lack of Android, however I cannot help but want to see that Super AMOLED display in person.
