BFG Tech Ends Graphics Card Business

Sad Day For Graphics Industry As BFG Ends GPU Cards To Focus On PSU, Computers

Sad day for those interested in the graphics card industry has a huge manufacturer has decided to cease producing graphics cards in favor of other computer components. BFG Technologies, the NVIDIA graphics card manufacturer, had been founded to produce graphics cards back in 2002.

John Slevin, chairman of BFG Technologies, said in a press release, “After eight years of providing innovative, high-quality graphics cards to the market, we regret to say that this category is no longer profitable for us, although we will continue to evaluate it going forward.”

Despite not bringing any new graphics cards to market, BFG will still offer RMA, telephone and e-mail support for those owning BFG graphics cards still in warranty. BFG’s power supplies have been highly rated, and in recent years, they’ve gone in a different direction completely by offering complete laptops (dubbed Deimos) and desktop (dubbed Phobos) computer systems.

A popular reason to use BFG graphics cards was their trade up program. After purchasing a BFG graphics card, you had 100 days to trade in your BFG graphics card for a more recently released, more powerful, graphics card, paying only the price difference and shipping. It was a great program that some computer enthusiasts enjoyed taking advantage of.

Looks like the recent NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 and 470 graphics cards will be the last cards that BFG makes. Pour one for BFG Tech.
