New Windows Live Hotmail Is Official & Really Hot [Microsoft Challenges Google & Apple with Hot New Hotmail Client]
Google’s Gmail application is my favorite Google product after Google Search (we can’t really browse the Internet without that Search engine) and I’ll be the first to recommend Google Mail to you both as a personal and as a professional email client. In fact Google is so good at getting new features out that with Gmail in place you’ll probably not require another email client again.

Or that’s what I was thinking before I saw this hot new presentation of Microsoft’s Windows Live Hotmail. That’s right, folks, Hotmail is so hot, at least in the video below, that it would make me want to consider trying it for a change.
Before move on to the new features of Hotmail let’s take a moment to warn Google and Apple that Microsoft means serious business this time around. So we definitely expect Gmail to be an even better solution and MobileMe to become a free service for all Apple and non-Apple product users.
But let’s see what’s new in the hot new Hotmail and we’ll look first at the reasons behind Microsoft’s decision to remodel Hotmail. Today:
- People send and receive more email than ever, but the types of email are changing – basically just one quarter of your inbox is email from actual contacts
- The content of email is different – besides text we have plenty of attachments: documents, video and pictures which we want to open all the time.
- People want to stay in touch on their phones and on the go – this one doesn’t need any extra explanations does it?
So what did Microsoft do to improve Hotmail? Well apparently the company listened to our wishes Here’s what the new Hotmail will help you achieve:
- Take back your inbox – Microsoft will help you “sweep” unwanted mail and go through the emails you actually want to read a lot faster. And there’s no spam they say.
- Get more done with the mail you receive – you will be able to edit documents, watch videos and enjoy pictures from inside the email client, check out shipping schedules and manage your Amazon account
- Share over email – Microsoft will take sharing to a whole new level especially when it comes to Microsoft Office files but also personal files like pictures and videos. And there’s a new cloud solution to help with that called Skydrive (which is free).
- Connect from your phone – email on your phone is a necessity and now you’ll be able to get more done right on your phone.
- Enjoy enhanced account protection
- Full-session SSL
- Access multiple email accounts
- Mange subfolders
- Better mange your contacts
- Lots of storage.
While some of the features have been seen before, others seem to have been reinvented and it all sounds great. In fact it does sound a little too good to be true but we’ll look forward to see Hotmail become as hot as Microsoft describes it now. And yes, the new Hotmail works on both Macs and PCs.
What do you say? Would you move away from Gmail to Hotmail? Oh, and one more thing, Hotmail isn’t just for busy women, is it Microsoft? Source
