Viliv HD5 Portable Media Player Get a South Korean Release

Viliv HD5 PMP To Feature 5" WVGA Display, Up To 32GB Storage & Leaves Viliv Fans Outside South Korea Hoping For An Announcement

There are often times when we mention a gadget that is being released only to find out that release will be in a limited market. And quite often those gadgets are drool worthy and often headed to South Korea. Well that may or may not end up being the case with the Viliv HD5 portable media player. As of now it has come available in South Korea, but given we often see Viliv release their products in other markets we still have some hope.

Moving on though, just what would we be looking forward to seeing, or what are South Koreans seeing now. To begin with, the Viliv HD5 is a portable media player. In other words, its not a phone of any kind. Still, sometimes its nice to have multiple devices, if for no other reason than battery life and the larger display.

Feature wise, the Viliv HD5 will come touting a 5 inch WVGA LCD display, SRS WOW HD sound driver, SDHC memory card slot, HDMI out and internal storage options of either 8, 16 or 32GB. Additionally, the HD5 will come with a battery that was noted as being able to offer up to 47 hours of audio playback, 13 hours of video playback and 450 hours on standby.

And for those that care what is running underneath, the Viliv HD5 will have Windows CE 6.0 with a custom skin on top. Finally, in terms of size, the Viliv HD5 will measure in at 0.50 inches thick with a weight of 8.1 ounces (about a half a pound).

Other features will include a dictionary, voice recorder, ebook reader and FM radio.

Alas, like I mentioned, as of now there has not been any word of a release outside the South Korean market. In terms of pricing, you can expect to pay 299,000 KRW (about $263 US) up to 459,000 KRW (about $403 US).
