Sprint BlackBerry Bold 9650 Already Available in Stores? [Sprint Starts Selling the BlackBerry Bold 9650 a Week Early]
As you already know the brand new BlackBerry Bold 9650 is heading to Sprint but it looks like the carrier wants to start selling the device a week earlier than expected. We also know that Verizon is interested in selling the phone as fast as possible and that’s why Sprint is probably offering the device now to its customers.

Expected initially to arrive on May 23, the handset will cost $199.99 after $150 instant savings and $100 mail-in rebate with a new two-year contract from Sprint. Verizon will most likely match that price as soon as its Bold 9650 version is ready to go to stores.
As for the phone itself, we’ve covered it extensively here on TFTS, but I’ll go through the full specs and features of the Bold 9650 one more time for you guys:
- Full QWERTY keyboard
- Optical trackpad
- 3G connectivity
- CDMA, 2100MHz UMTS/HSPA, quad-band EDGE/GPRS/GSM
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g

- 3.2-megapixel camera with video recording
- Up to 32GB storage support via microSD cards
- 2GB microSD card included
- 3.5mm headset jack

- Sprint TV
- 1400mAh battery
- Dimensions: 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.6 inch
- Weight: 4.8 oz
- BlackBerry OS 5.0
The phone is definitely a great device although at this point in time, investing in an upgraded BlackBerry Tour version might not be the smarter choice to make. In just a couple of weeks the HTC EVO 4G will be also available in Sprint stores so you might want to pay $200 for the EVO 4G instead and enjoy the first 4G phone in the world, in case Sprint covered your area with WiMAX love.
If you’re not a Sprint customer then I’ll also remind you that the iPhone 4G is going to be announced in early June so you might want to hold your precious cash to get this phone instead of the BlackBerry Bold 9650.
Last but not least, in case you’re a BlackBerry fan, some hot new BlackBerry handsets are rumored to arrive soon, the BlackBerry Bold 9800, the Storm 3 and, why not, even the BlackBerry 9670. So maybe getting the Bold 9650 right now is not such a great idea.
