HTC Mondrian Windows Phone 7 Handset: Specs & Features Revealed; Picture Also Available [HTC Mondrian to be First HTC Windows Phone 7 Smartphone? More Details Now Available]
Just the other day we showed you the first rumors concerning the first Windows Phone 7 handset coming from HTC and now we have more details about it. Dubbed as the HTC Mondrian after the famous Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, the phone looks quite promising, at least on paper for now, and we expect it to become an important WP7 phone soon.

The smartphone has been revealed in a recent Windows Phone 7 ROM and it looks like the ROM has been cracked and now we know some of the hidden specs and features of the Mondrian.
The HTC Mondrian will come with a 4.3-inch WVGA touchscreen display capable of 400 x 800 resolution, a 1.3GHz Qualcomm QSD8650A/B Snapdragon processor with support for both GSM and CDMA network, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, FM radio and, naturally, Windows Phone 7 under the hood.
The HTC Mondrian will be an all touchscreen device and there’s no hint that it will offer a full QWERTY keyboard too, which probably means we’re looking at a Chassis 1 type of WP7 phone.
We don’t have an official press photo from HTC yet so we’re stuck with the render above. On the other hand, since we’re looking at a touchscreen-only device that will sport a massive 4.3-inch display, we can assume that the Mondrian will look pretty similar to the HTC EVO 4G.
The most interesting thing about this device so far is the processor which will apparently clock at 1.3GHz. That’s definitely a very welcomed bump in speed that will make this smartphone a worthy iPhone 4G and HTC EVO 4G adversary. Furthermore the phone will deal with both GSM and CDMA connectivity which means that all of the big four carriers could get it later down the road.
In case you’re thinking about finally getting the HTC HD2 from T-Mobile, maybe you should wait a couple of months longer and get this HTC Mondrian instead. We don’t have actual arrival dates and pricing details for it yet but we’re expecting it to be available at some point this fall for somewhere around $200 with a new contract.
