Barnes & Noble Giving Away Five Free eBooks For Nook & BN eReader Users [Barnes & Noble Announce Summer Promo, Will Be Giving Away One Free eBook Per Week, Also Have Plans To Release iPad Specific BN eReader App]
Barnes & Noble have recently announced plans for a new offer that will give readers five free eBooks. The offer is simple, though it does involve a trip to a retail location. Basically, Barnes & Noble is giving away one free eBook per week for the next five weeks and the offer begins as of today May 17th.

In order to get those free books you will need to stop by a Barnes & Noble retail location and have a compatible reading device. So far that includes the Nook as well as an iPhone, iPod touch, BlackBerry, HTC HD2, PC or Mac. Additionally, as a little bit of good news for iPad users, the press release did mention the “free BN eReader software on an iPad” which appears as if it will be available sooner than later. Though I will say after a quick check of the App Store, its not yet available for the iPad.
And getting back to the promo, stop by the store and get a code which you can then enter at www.bn.com/redeem. As for the titles that you will be getting for free. Those include;
- The Long Tail by Chris Anderson
- Home Safe by Elizabeth Berg
- Storm Front by Jim Butcher
- One Shot by Lee Childs
- The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
Interestingly enough, it does not appear as if you can enter your code directly on the Nook. The press release states that you will have to enter it on the B&N website. Still, I guess a free book is a free book. If nothing else, you at least have a few books to read this summer.
Finally, like I mentioned earlier, this first free book is available as of today and will remain until May 23rd. What it looks like is that B&N will be giving away one free code per week and then all said and done, “each access code can be redeemed through July 1, 2010.”
