New MacBook Spotted in the Wild
Now that Apple has refreshed its MacBook Pro line, we’re expecting its MacBook Air and regular MacBooks to be updated too. This week we learned that a new MacBook Air might be on the way soon and now we hear that Apple could also bring us a new MacBook version.

This last leak comes all the way from Vietnam, from the same source that got their hands on a new iPhone 4G prototype. Given that the new iPhone looks pretty much similar to what we’ve seen so far we can only assume that these guys have some sort of access to Apple’s production lines. Therefore the new MacBook update seems pretty believable.
According to the Vietnamese website the new white MacBook will come with a couple of improved specs:
- 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor: 3MB L2 Cache and 1.07GHz Bus Speed
- 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 320M GPU
Everything else should be similar to what the current white unibody MacBook has to offer. The new machines, in case they’re really going to offer the features above, will be comparable to the entry-level MacBook Pros, but, of course, they’ll be a little cheaper.

The MacBook is currently priced at $999 and we expect Apple to keep that pricing intact for some time to come. We have no idea when the refresh will take place so we’ll be waiting for Apple to confirm it all. What’s interesting to mention though is that this alleged new MacBook is identified as MacBook 7,1 while current model is internally referred to as MacBook 6,1. On the other hand the box has the same model number, A1342 as current models so we really need some official clarification on this.
The video above shows us the unboxing of the new white MacBook although you won’t understand very much since the guy presents the laptop in Vietnamese. And even if you were speaking it, you’d really have trouble enjoying all the descriptions due to all the noise in the background. Where are these guys recording the whole thing?
So what do you say, Apple fans, would you buy the new 2.4GHz MacBook or would you rather get the MacBook Pro instead?
