Telus Releases & Quickly Lowers Motorola Backflip Pricing [Telus Lowers Motorola Backflip Price By $20, Now Down To $79.99 On Contract]
Coming just two weeks after the original release date, we have news of a price cut. The handset I am referring to is the Motorola Backflip, which was originally released with Telus on April 28th. The good news, or maybe bad news if you are the carrier, is that the price has been lowered from $99.99 down to $79.99.

Sure, some may be quick to point out that its only a $20 price cut, but $20 off $100 in just two weeks time seems pretty decent. Still, it does lead one to believe that the Motorola Backflip may not be selling all that well with Telus. Of course, thats just speculation on my part.
Basically, if you were planning to and just have not yet gotten the Backflip with Telus you can think of it this way — your desire to wait just saved you 20 bucks. And that $79.99 pricing does require the standard three year agreement. Otherwise those interested in shelling out some additional cash for less of a commitment, you can opt to sign a two year contract for $299.99 or a one year contract for $349.99. Those willing to go all the way, expect to pay $399.99 for the privilege of not having a contract.
Officially no word was given as to why the Backflip received the new price, but some have suggested that Telus did this to better compete with the Bell Dext and Rogers Quench, both of which are running Android 1.5 and priced at $79.99.
Finally, as I hope you have already guessed — the features remained the same. But just to offer a quick recap, in addition to Android 1.5 you will also get a 3.1 inch (320 x 480) capacitive touchscreen display, 5 megapixel camera with flash, 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, GPS, Bluetooth, speakerphone, 512MB of internal storage and a microSD card slot with support for cards up to 16GB in size.
