Asus Eee Keyboard PC Actually Begins Shipping [Asus Eee Keyboard Leaves Pre-Order Status & Is Shipping Out As Of Today, Still Priced At $599]
It was earlier this month when Asus made the long awaited Eee Keyboard PC official. Of course, many will question what took so long, remember, this was originally shown off during CES — in 2009. But more importantly is whether or not the market will still welcome such a device. Well, I guess time will tell on that last statement because the Eee Keyboard is officially available and officially shipping.

Yup, the pre-order days are gone and you could now head on over to Amazon, virtually plunk down your $599 and get the Eee Keyboard shipped out. Heck, with next day shipping it could be in your hands as soon as tomorrow.
Anyway, not much else has changed in the world of the Eee Keyboard, but for those that may still be interested lets do a quick recap on the specs. You can expect to find an Intel Atom N270 processor, 1GB of RAM and Windows XP Home along with Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and an Ethernet port. Additional ports come in the form of VGA out, HDMI out and three USB 2.0.
Of course, the PC is all built inside a chiclet style keyboard and comes with a 5 inch 800 x 480 LED multi-touch display. One other important item is the ultra-wide band support, you can expect to find a transmitter built into the keyboard and an external receiver. Otherwise, the keyboard will measure in at 16.7 x 5.7 x 1 inches and weigh 2.4 pounds.
One nice perk is that the Eee Keyboard has a Broadcom Crystal HD chip which will allow for HD quality video playback, but just as quickly as I can point that out I can also point out a shortcoming — the 4 hour battery life does not seem nearly long enough.
Personally, I wanted to pick one of these up, well I did back when I first saw it at CES in 2009. And now, I cannot help but feel Asus waited too long and missed their mark. Anyone else considering an Eee Keyboard PC purchase?
