LG and Microsoft Team Up For 3D
South Korea is really on the cutting edge on this 3D stuff. As reported yesterday, they’re going to begin testing 3D broadcast TV, and they were the first to sell publicly available 3D HDTVs. Now, LG and Microsoft have signed a deal to bring 3D gaming to Korea.

As you can see via that great picture above, LG and Microsoft Korea have entered into a ‘strategic partnership’ to co-develop and co-market their 3D products together in Korea and Pacific Asia only. Microsoft has been sort of quiet about 3D gaming ‘Stateside so this is a bit of news to see them talking about 3D gaming like this, even if it is in Korea.
Per the machine-translated Korean, the press release tells us that for a limited time, certain LG 3D TVs sold in Korea will be coming with a few special 3D Xbox 360 games in order to further show off their new 3D set. This is supposed to begin in June.
As we discussed previously, 3D TV’s biggest problem is content at the moment (just like HDTV some years ago, one could argue), so manufacturers like LG are trying to get as much content out there as they like. The Xbox 360 traditionally has sold poorly in Asia, but LG can’t go to Sony, can they? They’ve got their own 3D HDTVs to sell.
