Apple's iWork Apps On iPad Estimated To Generate $40m Annually

Apple's iWork iPad Apps: Pages, Keynote & Numbers, Have Already Made Over $3m

Analysts at Business Insider (BI) are estimating the Apple’s iWork suite of apps for the iPad could be bringing in $40 million annually for Apple. The apps Pages, Keynote and Numbers have already generated over $3 million in estimated revenue since iPad was launched in the US. Now with international launch dates revealed for the iPad, the number of downloads for iWork apps could only increase exponentially for Apple.

Business Insider has added that the numbers are a “very rough estimate.” They based it on the fact that the $10 iWork apps have consistently been the Top 10 most purchased apps on the iPad. Assuming that 2,500 copies are purchased on a weekday and 7,500 copies are purchased on a weekend, Apple would have made over $3 million off these apps since the launch of the iPad in the US.

With planned international release dates for the iPad not far ahead, there would be no signs of slowing down for the iWork apps. BI predicts that at this rate, Apple could potentially generate more than $40 million in annual sales from those three apps alone.

The trend highlights how iPad users are keen on work-related apps and this might also suggest that the iPad is indeed carving a market as a possible substitute for notebooks.

Are you currently using any of the iWork apps on your iPad? If you are, how are you finding them? If not, have you found better work-related apps on the iPad?
