Steve Jobs Confirms That Printing "Will Come" To The iPad
Its another day, and we seem to have gotten another in the Steve Jobs decides to reply to an email series. The latest is dealing with the iPad and its lack of ability to print. As a side note, I still find it odd that Steve Jobs has begun answering random questions from users on his iPhone and iPad, but hey at least it seems to be giving us some good information. Not to mention, a little entertainment from time to time. After all, the Steve Jobs response to the International pricing was a good laugh.

But getting back to the iPad and its ability to print. In the usual format, the question was brief and the answer was even more brief.
Dear Steve,
Why no printing on the iPad? What gives?
It will come.
Sent from my iPhone
Interestingly enough, it you look at the email that was sent from both parties the original question was sent at 5:17 PM and the reply came just a few minutes later at 5:33 PM. Talk about a quick turn around time. That may even suggest Mr. Jobs has his iPhone checking for new email every 15 minutes. Why no push?
And with that, we have seen rumors suggesting that iPhone OS 4.0 would come sporting the ability to print. But alas, those were and remain rumors at this point. But given this response maybe there is a ring of truth there. Of course, that would bring up the obvious question in that, if the iPad gets the ability to print, will it also come to the iPhone?
Personally I would think printing would be a nice feature to have. Well, a nice feature to have depending on how it is implemented and how it works. I would think that we would see a Bonjour type of setup in which you would be able to easily print to a printer located on the same network as your iPad. Still, we still have no idea on when to expect this to happen. In the end though, having the ability to print makes sense especially considering how Apple is offering a special iPad version of Pages, Numbers and Keynote.
