New Sony Vaio P Series Gets Official [Sony Announces New Sony Vaio P Netbook; Still More Expensive Than the Cheapest Tablet Out There]
Maybe someone should wake up Sony from its netbook wet dream. Sure the Vaio P is definitely a gorgeous and very portable toy but it’s also a very expensive one. The netbook seems to be even more expensive when compared to the new tablet in town, the iPad, a device that sells for less and offers some very unique features.

The Vaio P is still a full-fledged computer, even if it lacks multitouch support and has a smaller display than the iPad. Maybe that’s why we have a new version of it which was officially introduced today. The all new Sony Vaio P laptop will offer some spectacular features and looks good in all those candy-like colors, but, again, it will surely be overpriced, just like its predecessor.

So let’s look at what this new Vaio machine will have to offer:
- Intel Atom Z540 processor
- 2GB DDR2 SDRAM
- 64GB SSD
- Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit
- 8-inch 1600 x 768 display
- Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 500
- Weight: 0.632kg with battery
- Size: 120 x 19.8 x 245 mm (D x H x W)
- Up to 5 hours of battery life – regular battery; up to 10 hours with extended battery
- Accelerometer
- GPS and digital compass
- WLAN 802.11b/g/n
- Everywair 3G up to 7.2Mbps
- Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
- Stereo speakers and microphone
- MOTION EYE camera
- 2 USB ports
- Colors: orange, green, pink, black and white.
Yes, I will say that the Sony Vaio P is probably the king of all netbooks. But then again, do we really need all those features inside a netbook when we already have them included in our regular smartphones?

The netbook is going to be available in June 2010 and we expect it to cost anywhere from $600 to $800. Although last time we checked, the netbook business was slowly dying so maybe Sony will decide to surprise us with cheaper Vaio P prices.
