Apple iPad Begins Accepting Pre-orders Online A Day Earlier
Apple online stores on Sunday began accepting pre-orders for both the Wi-Fi and 3G iPad models in Germany, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and France. A day earlier than the announced pre-order date. Canada and Japan are also part of the international iPad launch, however, were not yet accepting pre-orders on Sunday evening.

Last week Apple announced its official international iPad launch date to be 28 May. Apple claimed that it would allow pre-orders on its online stores starting 10 May. But for some countries, that pre-ordering online came a day earlier.
People from Germany, the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Spain, Italy and France are able to pre-order their iPad Wi-Fi or 3G devices. However, the pre-order button did not appear on Apple’s Canada and Japan online stores on Sunday evening.
Orders are limited to two iPads per customer. The prices revealed were exactly what Apple had states in its press release regarding international pricing for the iPad:
Wi-Fi-only iPad:
- 16GB – €479 Europe, £429 U.K., $629 Australian
- 32GB – €579 Europe, £499 U.K., $759 Australian
- 64GB – €679 Europe, £599 U.K., $879 Australian
Wi-Fi + 3G iPad
- 6GB – €579 Europe, £529 U.K., $799 Australian
- 32GB – €679 Europe, £599 U.K., $928 Australian
- 64GB – €779 Europe, £699 U.K., $1,049 Australian
With the iPad retailing for a far greater amount in some countries compared to others, eBay users predominantly in the US are trying to cash in on this opportunity.
Further international launches of the iPad will happen in July and will be available to Austraia, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore. Apple has also mentioned that nine additional countries will be announced for a later launch date.
If you’re from outside of the US, we would like to know if you’ve pre-ordered your iPad through the Apple store or whether you’ve purchased one already on online auction sites like eBay.
