Rumor: Sprint EVO 4G Coming June 6th
Sprint may be slowly dying, but the HTC EVO 4G is going to be a strong shot in the arm for the ailing US carrier. IntoMobile is now reporting that they’re hearing from sources within Sprint that the HTC EVO 4G is coming on June 6th for $200.

The alleged June 6 release date is just under a month way, which is sure to excite a lot of fans for the phone. As mentioned, Sprint will be selling the phone for $200 with a two-year contract, and IntoMobile also hears that Sprint will be selling the phone unlocked for $600. While the prices are spot on, we’re not sure if the HTC EVO 4G will be sold ‘contract-free’ or ‘unlocked’.
Any carrier will sell you an unsubsidized phone for full price, but the phone will still usually be carrier locked, waiting for an activation code from the carrier you purchased it from. If Sprint is truly selling the phone unlocked, then there will be a lot of people interested in buying the 4-inch Android superphone for WiFi + Skype usage (myself included).
I’m sure you’ve heard of the HTC EVO 4G by now – it’s a pretty hotly anticipated device and we’ve been doing a ton of coverage here on TFTS. The device will have a 4.3-inch LCD screen, a Snapdragon 1GHz processor, 512MB of RAM and an 8-megapixel camera. In addition to all that, it’ll be the first WiMAX 4G smartphone out there.
