Microsoft KIN ONE & TWO Pricing Details & Release Dates Now Available [Verizon to Sell the KIN ONE & TWO on May 6; Windows Phones Available in Stores on May 13]
Just a few days ago we learned that Microsoft’s latest social networking featurephones will be available for pre-order on May 6 followed by a May 13 release. But that was just a leaked internal email which still needed confirmation. Well it looks like we have that confirmation today thanks to a full press release from Microsoft.

As suggested by the leaked email, the KIN ONE and TWO will start selling on May 6 online but the devices will only make it to stores a week later. As for prices details, which are very important when considering buying such phones, you’ll have to know that the KIN ONE will retail for $49.99 while the KIN TWO will sell for $99.99.
These prices are available only if you’re ready to commit to a new two-year Verizon customer agreement and after a $100 mail-in rebate which will be awarded in form of a debit card. In order “to get the most of KIN” you will have to get a Verizon Wireless Nationwide Talk plan and an Email and Web for Smartphone plan which begin at $39.99 and $29.99 per month, respectively.
I thought the KIN ONE and KIN TWO aren’t really smartphones, are they? Microsoft says they are “designed for people who are actively navigating their social lives”. And here are some of the most important features of the phones, again, according to Microsoft:
- KIN Loop – Always stay in the loop
- KIN Spot – Share your story with the world
- KIN Studio – Your phone on the web
- Capture and share all your memories with KIN Camera
- Zune support
- Bing support
- E-mail and full browser support
See, neither the KIN ONE nor the KIN TWO is a genuine smartphone. They’re Windows Phone featurephones at best which will surely be loved by teenagers. But what about you? Are you getting the KIN phone?
