Wii Black Bundle Pack Tops Amazon Charts With Pre-orders

Nintendo's Marketing Gimmick Seems To Be Working

Who knew that changing the Wii to a darker color could create another buying-frenzy? Nintendo Wii Black bundle pack has immediately jumped to the number one spot on Amazon’s “Movers & Shakers” under the video games category.

As Nintendo gears up for the official release of the Wii Black available on 9 May, Amazon has been running hot with pre-orders for this product. The Wii Black bundle is much more attractive than the Wii White bundle as it offers the additional Wii Sports Resort game.

Amazon currently provides free shipping for the Wii Black and is still running the promotion where you can buy a Wii console and get a selected game for free. The game titles include Super Smashing Bros. Brawl, Endless Ocean: Blue World and Wii Play. I would personally choose Wii Play as it also comes with a free remote. Oh, but it’s in white though.

Nintendo’s Wii Black marketing gimmick definitely seems to be working. It has generated the much-needed buzz Nintendo was looking for, reviving a product line that was heavily declining in sales.

It’s been reported that listings of used Wii White have increased on auction sites like eBay. Are Wii-owners selling the white console just to purchase the black one?
