BlackBerry Slider 9800 (Not Storm 3) Spotted in Leaked Shots

RIM to Make a Slider BlackBerry Phone After All; to be Called the Slider 9800

While I still don’t like the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell phone which we’ve seen in leaked shots earlier here on TFTS, a BlackBerry slider looks just a little better. And now we have a name for the device, the BlackBerry Slider 9800 and not the BlackBerry Storm3 like we’ve heard before.

The device apparently exists out it the wild and it might be launched at some point this summer when BlackBerry 6 will also be made available to BlackBerry fans. That’s right, folks, the phone in the picture here is apparently running RIM’s latest mobile platform which is very touch-friendly, as you already know.

So how did this phone get leaked? It was certainly not left in a bar, I’ll tell you that! The phone is probably a prototype test unit which was used in Canada (where else really?) as you can almost see that Rogers is the designated carrier. What I really can’t understand with all these leaked pictures that keep popping out all over the Internet is why on earth aren’t these people taking the pictures using better cameras? Have these pictures been manufactured by any chance?

We’d like to offer you some clear details about the BlackBerry Slider 9800, but, at this time we don’t have any official specs and features. The phone clearly has a large Storm-like touchscreen display, a full QWERTY keyboard, optical trackpad, and the very much anticipated BlackBerry 6 running on board. We can probably expect 3G and Wi-Fi support, some sort of GPS, and a decent camera, maybe a 5-megapixel shooter like on that ugly duckling BlackBerry 9670. It will probably come with GSM and CDMA bands as RIM will surely want to sell this new Berry all over the world.

So, let’s hear it from you folks since the BlackBerry Storm 3 has been quite a popular topic. What would you rather buy? The BlackBerry Slider 9800 or the BlackBerry 9670 clamshell phone?

The slider I hope is a Bold revision only. My Storm 1 is working fine and I have hopes of hanging on to it until the Storm3 comes out. I want it to be a “TRUE” touchscreen only (no slider) phone. My opinion too many things can go wrong over repeated sliding out of a keyboard on a phone. I’ve learned to keep my phones protected with durable covers. If BB goes only with the Storm 3 and a slider keyboard I will choose an Android touchscreen only phone. It only makes sense to me.

I definetly would choose the slider. The clam looks like it will be a bulky flip phone
