T-Mobile US Not Going Away

After Slowed T-Mobile Growth, Deutsche Telekom Says It Isn't Going Anywhere

T-Mobile US was one of the fastest growing US carriers in the past few years, but it had a (relatively) poor Q4 2009 where it saw decreased revenue and earnings. Despite some shareholders demands, Deutsche Telekom (T-Mobile US’ German mothership) denied any rumors that they were shutting down their American subsidiary.

At this past Monday’s Deutsche Telekom shareholder meeting, German investment firm DWS advised them to cut back the risk from their American division. DWS suggested that T-Mobile US could be merged or sold to another carrier.

Aside from the decreased earnings and revenue for Q4, T-Mobile US is looking at the costly upgrade to 4G. With T-Mobile’s networks in Europe requiring the same upgrade, German analysts are suggested that Deutsche Telekom shouldn’t take on this debt.

But, Deutsche Telekom CEO Rene Obermann is committed to the US operations. While Mr. Obermann isn’t “fully satisfied” with all of T-Mobile US’s results, he reiterated that “after all, it is making us a great deal of money.”

When Deutsche Telekom’s CFO Timotheus Hottges was asked about the possibility of T-Mobile US being spun off and having its own public stock offering, he called it “an option”.

T-Mobile is smallest of the American “big four” cell carriers, behind AT&T, Verizon Wireless and Sprint-Nextel with just 33.4 million customers. Despite being the smallest, they often rank highly in customer care and customer satisfaction quality.

T-mobile is the only network in the US not ripping off its customers. Once they get 4G and better phones are available to combat At&T they will become far more dominant.

That is just YOUR opinion… with T-Mobile… if any over charges that hit your bill… regardless of the reason… T-Mobile would not budge a penny…. they would rather send you to collection or just simply loose you as a customer permanently… along with your family/friends/peers, etc….. THAT is among some other reasons why their sales is on the decline…. at&t is the complete opposite when it comes to billing issues… all carriers will at some point run into some sort of billing issues at some point… what’s important is who is willing to work with the consumer to resolve the issue…. T-Mobile definitely don’t… at&t do!!!
