Spirit iPad 3G Jailbreak Officially Available to Download [Spririt iPad 3G Jailbreak Also Works on iPhone OS 3.1.2 & 3.1.3 Devices: iPhone & iPod touch]
The iPad 3G has also been jailbroken one day after the official launch, just like the iPad Wi-Fi before it. And it looks like the iPhone Dev Team already has Spirit clients available for all those of you that would like to run some Cydia apps on the iPad 3G or iPad Wi-Fi.

Furthermore, besides working on iPhone OS 3.2, Spirit can apparently be used on iPhone OS 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 devices, or the iPhone and iPod touch.
What else do you need to make Spirit work? Here’s a complete list:
- Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
- Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
- If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
So what is Spirit we ask? Here’s what the official (it’s just weird to call a hack “official”) web page says:
- Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
- Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
- If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
The official Spirit download page also warns us that on the iPad, “this is all sort of beta.” That means you system might crash and burn from time to time in which case you will have to restore it to initial settings.
So let us know how jailbreaking for iPad works, not that we’re advising you in any way to do that to your iPad or any other device, for that matter.
