BlackBerry Bold 9650 Makes An FCC Appearance
It looks like the upcoming BlackBerry Bold 9650 launch with Sprint has just gotten one step closer to happening. Well, in fairness we have already seen the official announcement letting us know that the Bold would come available on May 23rd — except in order for that to happen RIM must first secure the approval of the FCC.

Well, in a little bit of news that comes as little surprise, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 stopped by and was granted the approval of the FCC. Unfortunately due to already having the official unveiling from RIM, we have learned little as a result of this listing. In fact, it seems as if it only further confirmed that the Bold 9650 would have EVDO Rev. A and 850/1900MHz EDGE support.
With that, it looks like those interested in picking the Bold 9650 up with Sprint still have a little while longer to wait — May 23rd for $199.99 on a two year contract. Additionally, there has been mention of the Bold 9650 coming to Verizon as well. So far, Verizon only has a rumored release date of May 27th. That said, we are keeping our eyes peeled for an official announcement.
Otherwise, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 specs have already been revealed and detailed in full, but just to offer a quick recap, here is what you can expect.
- 480 x 360 pixel display
- Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g
- 3G
- Bluetooth 2.1
- GPS
- 3.5mm headphone jack
- 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash
- Optical trackpad
- 512MB of internal storage
- microSD card slot with support for cards up to 32GB
- microUSB port
- 1400mAh battery that should be able to offer up to 5 hours of talk time and 13 days on standby
Additionally, the Bold 9650 measures in at 4.4 x 2.4 x 0.56 inches with a weight of 4.8 ounces and is expected to ship with a 2GB microSD card in the box. In the end though, this Bold will likely be confused (by looks) with that of the Tour. But hey, at least the Bold has Wi-Fi and the Tour did not.
