iPad 3G Jailbreak Available on Day One

iPad 3G’s Spirit Gets Broken Immediately After Purchase; iPad 3G Jailbreak Coming Soon & It’s Called Spirit

Just like the iPad Wi-Fi which was jailbroken immediately after purchase, the iPad 3G has gone through the same process. It looks like Apple has not taken any measures to prevent jailbreaking at this time although they will surely try to put up a good fight against the iPhone Dev Team. In the mean time, a jailbreaking solution for the iPad is coming soon and we’re going to call it Spirit, but you already knew that, didn’t you?

The spirit of the iPad 3G (pun intended), has been broken, as you can see in the video below, and those of you interested in running some Cydia apps on your newly acquired toy, will be able to do so just as soon as the jailbreak solution becomes public.

It’s not all fun and games though, so you’ll have to be extra careful when deciding to use Sprit to jailbreak your device. The iPhone Dev Team has some warnings for you:

The Spirit jailbreak is most useful for newer devices: iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 3G, and the iPads. Unfortunately those devices are the same ones that Apple can prevent you from downgrading unless you’ve got a backup of your personalized SHSH blobs. Unless you’ve backed up your SHSH blobs for vulnerable firmware versions, you’ll lose the ability to use the current Spirit jailbreak if you accidentally upgrade.

And the Dev Team already has the first details of the Sprit up for us:

  • Spirit is an untethered jailbreak.
  • Spirit works on all devices. (However, the redsn0w and PwnageTool flows will continue to work on those devices they’ve always worked on)
  • Spirit does not include a carrier unlock.
  • Spirit requires your device to be activated or hacktivated

In any case, messing with the iPad 3G like that can lead to unforeseen consequences as you can surely imagine. As always we don’t recommend you go through any jailbreaking and unlocking procedures as they are going to ultimately void your and bring the wrath of Apple your way. In case you’re not comfortable using such software we recommend you stick to the App Store apps and forget about Cydia. But then again, it’s your money that paid for the iPad 3G, or any other device you want to jailbreak, so you should be entitled to do what you want with it. Even blend it!
