Adobe’s Thoughts on Flash Include Free Android Phones for All Employees [Adobe Tries to Make a Point & Promises Android Handsets with Flash to Its Employees]
In a new episode of the Apple vs Adobe series on Flash support, Shantanu Narayen’s company has decided to respond in a very unique way to the competition. Adobe will issue free Android handsets to Adobe employees and it looks like these phones are going to have Flash support.

We already know that Flash is coming to Android smartphones at Google’s I/O conference this May, and, following the public demo, we can expect it to be available to the masses soon.
Adobe is apparently ready to take a stand when it comes to one of its more important products used by designers and programmers around the world to paint the Internet in nicer colors. While we know that HTML5 is the future, we still have to call it like it is and accept Flash in our current present and along with it any other tool that is responsible for the way the Internet currently looks like.
According to various sources Adobe’s management has decided to issue Android handsets with Flash on board to its employees in the near future, just so they can get used to Flash Player 10.1 for Android as fast as possible. Are we to understand the Adobe is getting ready to force employees to switch to Android, no matter what mobile platform they might currently prefer?
We’d surely like to hear more about this matter from those of you currently working for Adobe. What kind of smartphone are you currently using and why? Do you envision yourself as a future Android user?
We’re not saying that Android phones aren’t a good fit for Adobe’s workforce, but just suggesting that the company shouldn’t impose such measures just to make a point.
On a different note, we have no idea what kind of phone will Adobe offer to employees. Is it going to be the Google Nexus One, a very emblematic device for Google and Android already? Or will Adobe let users choose any smartphone out there as long as it runs Android?
It’s also not clear whether only U.S.-based Adobe employees are getting the new, possibly mandatory, Android handsets or if Adobe wants to make these phones available to all of its 8,600 employees scattered around the globe, but we’ll be coming back with more details once Adobe makes it official.
