Motorola Droid 2 Following Droid Incredible? Motorola Shadow (Google Nexus Two) Also Spotted

Two New Android Smartphones Rumored: the Motorola 2 & the Motorola Shadow

Just earlier on TFTS we’ve seen how Motorola has been outranked by RIM and Apple when it comes to the total number of shipped handsets for the last quarter. Nevertheless, Motorola is doing a lot better than last year as the mobile manufacturer managed to come back in the game right in the nick of time.

Motorola shifted its whole attention to Android and it looks like the manufacturer is about to launch two more hot Android handsets. These are the Droid 2 and the Shadow which should be released at some point in the near future.

Let’s take a look at the Motorola Shadow which is pictured above first! Last time I checked, and I do that pretty often, this phone was supposed to grow into the Google Nexus Two. We have no idea if that will happen anytime soon, especially since the phone is now said to have lost the slide-out keyboard.

At least now we do know that the handset has received the Wi-Fi certification. Dubbed as the Motorola MB810, the Motorola Shadow might be heading to Verizon Wireless at some point later this year, although if Big Red does pick it up I’d expect it to be called the Droid Shadow.

The Shadow is said to come with specs and features like 4.3-inch touchscreen display with 854 x 480 resolution, 8-megapixel camera with autofocus, 720p video recording and dual LED Flash, Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS, FM Radio, HDMI and USB connectivity, CDMA support and Android 2.1 with Motoblur on board.

The Motorola Droid 2 is all the more interesting, that’s why I saved it for last. The Droid 2 should definitely be a very hot device also coming to Verizon, otherwise we can’t explain the name. The word on the street is that the Droid 2 will be available at some point this summer from Big Red although I find it strange for Verizon to announce a Droid follower so soon after the Droid Incredible became official.

After all, the original Droid did wonders for Motorola and Verizon as lots of customers purchased it already, so we’d expect the Droid 2 to also be a very hot handset. The rumored specs so far include a 4.3-inch touchscreen just like the Shadow’s and a full, slide-out, QWERTY keyboard.

However we don’t have any clear indication that any of the specs and features above correspond with the reality and it might be a while until either Verizon or Motorola confirms or denies the Shadow (Google Nexus Two) or the Droid 2.

I’ve been waiting for news on a true Droid successor, i’ll passed up on the incredible and whatever else comes out until I see how Motorola will improve on the original model that set the bench for the android market

My guess is the phone pictured above is only a mock-up of the Droid 2, not the Shadow. Not only is it a near duplicate of the current Droid, but it is rumored that the Shadow will not have a qwerty keyboard. I also think the phone pictured doesn’t have a 4.3 inch screen. If it did, it would have room for a 5th row on the keyboard for numbers.
