Android Twitter App Gets Announced by Twitter, We’re Tweeting About It
That’s right, Twitter fans, now your favorite social networking tool has an official Android application so if you also happen to love all sorts of Androids devices (okay, at least smartphones) in your life then you’re probably not going to pass up the chance of trying the official Twitter app on your handset.

Twitter has officially announced the app and now you can grab it yourself from Google’s Android Market. Twitter’s official announcement came in for of a blog post entitled: “Twitter for Android: Robots like to share too” not that Twitter should really explain what the application is all about:
When we tweet what’s happening around us, we share not only our thoughts, but also web pages, photos, videos, location…anything. Mobile phones are increasingly part of our lives, and we seem to be doing everything but making phone calls. Reading the news, watching a YouTube video, and taking photos at events like the World Cup are things we expect to do on mobile phones – sharing our experiences on these little screens should be just as easy and fast as on big ones.
Having a Twitter account is basically mandatory these days. There are companies that require you to have an important followship before letting you apply for specific jobs, so building that followers list will need your every effort, including getting a smartphone, featurephone or even dumber-phone that comes with Twitter support.
As you can see in the screenshots available here, Twitter for Android sounds like a really fun app to play with. Unfortunately it only works on Android 2.1 and “above” although Froyo hasn’t been really released yet, has it, so there is no “above” yet!
Twitter for Android comes with a few handy features like a home screen widget, support for viewing a tweet location on a map, and integration of your friend’s tweets in your phonebook, Google Talk list or “any application that uses Android’s QuickContact bar.”
And since you’re about to install the official Twitter client on your Android phone, do remember to also follow our tweets too. Which will be filled with tech-related content, exactly how you like it!
