Skyfire 2.0 Beta for Android Now Available
One of the main gripes consumers have had with all of the latest smart phones (besides a select few) is the fact that they don’t feature any support for Adobe Flash. Sure, Steve Jobs has said that the Flash platform is buggy, unstable and not suited for mobile devices as we learned earlier today, but what he says is the future, HTML5, is not suited for everything. And, let’s be honest, when people are browsing the web, mobile or not, they want the full experience and Flash is certainly part of said experience.

Google, for one, has recently gone on record as saying that the newest version of their Android mobile operating system will ship with full Flash support but when we will see that drop is anyone’s guess, as this point. Luckily, a new mobile web browser called Skyfire (version 2.0, to be exact) has just entered a public beta phase and is now available to test. The best part? It ships with Flash capabilities, sort of. When we say sort of, we mean that it has a feature that converts Flash videos to HTML5 on the go so it’s almost like having Flash, right?
However, that’s not all Skyfire 2.0 has to offer the community — In fact, it has a whole plethora of other offerings and we here at TFTS have all of the goods for your viewing pleasure.
Other than the pseudo Flash capabilities which we mentioned above, Skyfire 2.0 will allow you to share your favorite content with your Facebook friends or Twitter followers with just one click. Imagine, you find an interesting story (like this one) and want to share it with your followers but don’t want to close your mobile browser and fire up your Twitter client. Well, Skyfire has you covered; just press a button and bam, all of your social networks will be updated. Easy enough, right? Also, Skyfire features Stumbleupon-like feature, except it isn’t actually Stumbleupon. Instead, the developers have placed an ‘Explore’ button in the bottom tool bar that allows you to find related content quickly and easily.
