MSI GE600 Gaming Notebook To Feature 16" Display, ATI Radeon Graphics & Intel Core i5 CPU

MSI has recently added the latest model in their lineup of gaming notebooks. The model is the GE600 and it comes sporting a 16 inch display with a 1366 x 768 resolution. Diving right in, the GE600 is priced at $999.99 direct with MSI. Though if interested you can save a few bucks, well actually a $100 if you shop with online retailer Newegg who currently has the GE600 listed for $899.99.

But is the GE600 worth an almost $1,000 price tag? That question can only be answered by those considering a purchase, but we can help you reach that answer by spilling the details on the specs.

First things first, the overall design and casing. The GE600 is sporting a “cool, black” exterior with titanium gold finish in the keyboard area. A little perk here is that the exterior is described as being scratch proof and fingerprint resistant. Also on the interior located just above the keyboard is a row containing 10 touch sensitive hotkeys to quickly pause/play, skip forward and back, raise/lower/mute the volume as well as a few others.

And aide from the 16 inch display, you will also find Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit edition), a 2.26GHz Intel Core i5 430M processor, Intel HM55 chipset, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB (7200 RPM) hard drive, Super Multi DVD optical drive and ATI Radeon HD5730 Madison XT graphics. Speaking of the graphics card, that model has 1GB of RAM and DirectX11 support.

Additionally, and as you would expect there is also a full range of ports and connectivity which include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, Ethernet, three USB 2.0 ports, D-Sub, HDMI, Express Card, microphone in and headphone out. Other features include a 4 in 1 card reader, 1.3 megapixel webcam, 6-cell battery and HD audio with two speakers and a subwoofer.

Lastly, with portable gaming in mind, the thought of overall size and weight may come into play for those looking to lug this machine around. In terms of size you can expect 14.7 x 9.6 x 1.1-1.3 inches and in terms of weight, that would be 5.9 pounds.
