Asus Eee PC 1218 Netbook Images Show All-Aluminum Exterior Casing

Eee PC 1218 Netbook Revealed, Will Feature 12" Display & Retractable Webcam With All Ports On The Rear

A few images of the Asus Eee PC 1218 have recently surfaced online, and they are showing off a fairly unique Eee. To begin with, lets get the disappointment out of the way — most of the specs remain a mystery. That said though, the bits we do have so far seem pretty interesting.

Moving past the lack of specs, let dive into the little bit that we have learned so far. First things first, the exterior casing is not the standard that we have seen on countless other Eee’s so far but instead is all aluminum. Off to a nice start there, and as you can see from the images including in this post, the Eee PC 1218 is both black and silver in color.

Other details include a built-in webcam that was made to ensure privacy. Which really means that the webcam has a sliding cover so you can be assured that no one is checking you out and taking pictures and/or video remotely.

Otherwise, the Eee PC 1218 will offer a 12.1 inch display and has a nice clean exterior design which comes due in part with the aluminum casing, but more importantly is the location of the ports. They are all on the back and contain the standards such as VGA, HDMI, three USB, Ethernet, headphone out, microphone in and power supply.

Similar to the lack of official specs, we also have no idea when or if the Eee PC 1218 will come available. Of course, the price also remains a mystery.

And lastly, just because we have yet to see anything official in terms of specs, pricing and availability does not mean the Eee PC 1218 has not had time to shine. It seems that this particular model has already been given a Red Dot 2010 design award. With that we are hoping to see more information released during Computex, which is coming up in the beginning of June.
