HTC Wildfire Android Smartphone Unveiled by the FCC
A new HTC Android smartphone seems to be in the making, not that we would expect anything different from the famous Android handset maker. You’re probably waiting for a GSM version of the HTC Droid Incredible or the HTC EVO 4G but the FCC hasn’t revealed anything like that yet. Instead we have a new Android device that comes with a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and is rumored to be called the Wildfire.

As you can see we already have some pictures of the device available but HTC hasn’t mentioned anything about it. The phone, spotted at the FCC and codenamed the PC70110, will offer you a full touchscreen display, a slide-out landscape QWERTY keyboard, and AT&T bands support. The device will also offer you a row of buttons that are very similar to what the Droid Incredible has to offer and will probably come with Android 2.1 OS on board with a touch of HTC Sense UI on top of it.
The phone is said to be called the Wildfire but that’s not the definitive name for this Android handset. HTC asked fans to name the next “playful and full of youth” Android phone and Wildfire was one of the choices available. In the end it could be called the HTC Jovi, Zear or Festi for all we know.
What’s interesting here is that the Wildfire seems to be the perfect contender of Microsoft’s KIN social networking Windows phones especially since it’s supposed to be a playful device that’s full of youth.
No news on when the HTC Wildfire is due so we’ll be waiting for the rumor mill to start leaking more details about the device as the FCC will surely not reveal more. In any case the phone seems destined to hit AT&T stores and, given AT&T’s track with Android handsets so far, we’re hoping it will offer buyers a full Android experience unaltered by the carrier’s wishes.
