Samsung Galaxy A SHW-M100S Android Smartphone Now Available In South Korea [Another Smartphone Release To Be Jealous Of, SK Telecom Unveils The Android Powered Galaxy A Smartphone Featuring An "AMOLED Plus" Display]

You have likely seen the Samsung Galaxy S smartphone, however as of today Samsung has announced another in the galaxy series — the Galaxy A. Or going by the full name with model number you have the Samsung Galaxy A SHW-M100S. The handset is running Android, except unlike the Galaxy S, the A will not be making its way into the US market. Yup, the Galaxy A is following in the path that we saw earlier today with the LG announcement and headed only into South Korea.

Now initially I would say that I am simply jealous because the South Korean market received not one, but three new Android smartphones today. But that jealousy aside, and speaking as a fan of Android, its nice to see it rolling out across the globe.

In terms of the Samsung Galaxy A, feature wise you can expect a 3.7 inch WVGA AMOLED PLUS display, an 800MHz processor, 5 megapixel camera, 8GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, a 3.5mm headphone jack and a 1500 mAh battery. Other features include T-DMB, video calling, support for DivX and Android 2.1 with the Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 interface on top. Additionally, the handset will have access to the SK Telecom app store. The Galaxy A reportedly will also have access to all of the Google services including the Android Market.

Getting back to the display for a second, that was described as being an AMOLED PLUS. And apparently that PLUS means it will have better touch sensitivity as well as improved visibility and clarity.

Wraping this up, the Galaxy A will be available with SKT and so far has no plans to arrive elsewhere. But in the end, and like I mentioned earlier, it is still nice to see Android rolling out worldwide — especially with the Android branding so boldly written up top of the display. Otherwise, the Galaxy A is available as of today.
