Black Wii Set for US Release This May? [Black Nintendo Wii to Hit Stateside From Next Month According to Rumours]

European based consumers have been able to avail themselves of a black Nintendo Wii since late last year but, to date, the black Wii has proved wholly elusive concerning those in the US who are looking for an alternative to the white version. But now it seems, should rumours be believed, the black Wii is indeed headed stateside and could hit retail as soon as early next month.

US Black Nintendo Wii Console

The sources of these rumours are named by Kotaku as being Target, GameStop and Future Stop, though, of course, Nintendo have refused to either confirm or deny the mounting speculation concerning the US release schedule of the black Wii (Nintendo are known for playing things especially close to their collar, so that’s hardly a surprise).

According to unnamed sources from the above outlets, the US black Nintendo Wii will come bundled with Wii Sports Resort and a Wii MotionPlus controller and is reportedly set to hit at a $199.99 price point with May 9th being touted as a US date of release whilst Canadians should, if the rumours transpire to ring true, be able to get their hands on a black Wii from May 23rd.

So if you’re based in these locals and you’re itching to get a Nintendo Wii that sits comfortably with those black Wii Remote and Nunchuck controllers it looks like your wait may soon be over.
