HTC EVO 4G Best Buy Promotion Up; Release Date Still Unavailable
We’ve seen Best Buy just last week hurry to sell you the HTC Droid Incredible a day ahead of Verizon and it looks like the giant retailer really likes hot Android smartphones. The main adversary of the Droid Incredible at this point is the HTC EVO 4G which is hitting Sprint at some point in June and Best Buy will, of course, also sell it.

We already know that Best Buy is going to have the first WiMAX Android handset in its inventory but we still don’t know when the device is coming. In the mean time Best Buy has dedicated a webpage to the HTC EVO 4G smartphone which happens to be “America’s first 4G phone.”
According to the add the smartphone is coming “Summer 2010”, not that it will help us very much. A rumored release date for the HTC EVO 4G has been June 13 but nobody confirmed it yet. On the other hand we know that Sprint’s special EVO 4G competition is ending on May 9 and that the ten lucky EVO 4G winners will get their handset well before the official launch. Does that mean June is the most likely candidate for the release of this WiMAX Android phone?

Here are the main specs and features of the device which Best Buy advertises on its HTC EVO 4G page:
- Large, vibrant 4.3-inch screen
- Blazing-fast 1 GHz Snapdragon processor
- Top-notch HTML Web browser
- Two cameras, including an 8.0MP
- 3G/4G mobile hotspot capability connects up to 8 Wi-Fi-enabled devices
- Google mobile services including Google Maps, Gmail and YouTube
- Social network integration with Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and more
- Works in 3G and 4G markets
- HDMI connection
And let’s not forget about the mobile hotspot feature which will let you “create your own hotspot and share the power of the 4G network with up to 8 Wi-Fi enabled devices.”
You can always sign up and wait for Best Buy’s notifications but something tells me we’re going to find the release date of the HTC EVO 4G well before Best Buy will be willing to reveal it.
