Velocity Micro Cruz Tablet Coming Soon [Android-based Cruz Tablet Will Feature 7" Display With Android 2.1 & Flash 10.1 Support]

Velocity Micro has just unveiled some plans to break into the Android tablet market. The latest is showing off the Cruz Tablet, which is expected to become available sometime in the late summer and arrive with a price tag in the ballpark of $300. Of course, that most likely means $299.99. But still, if the Cruz Tablet is priced and spec’d as we expect, this could be the Android tablet worth looking forward to.

In terms of specs, the Cruz Tablet looks like it will come touting a 7 inch capacitive touchscreen display, 800MHz processor, SD card slot, accelerometer, 3.5mm headphone jack, speaker, microphone, a user replaceable battery and Android 2.1 with a full browser that has Flash 10.1 support. It will also come with the standard selection of apps such as a media player, calculator, alarm clock, gallery, email and more. Based on the above image there also appears to be a webcam front and center. Of course, nothing was mentioned specifically in regards to that, and yes this is just a rendered image.

As of now its unknown whether the Cruz Tablet will have access to the official Android Market, though it was noted as having the “Cruz Market” available. Unfortunately we are not sure how many, or which apps are going to be available in the Cruz Market. That said, Engadget has posted some live images of the Cruz Tablet and it seems to have a pretty decent selection of installed apps. Some of the apps noticed were Documents To Go, Quickoffice, Pandora, Twidroid and YouTube. Of course, its unknown if these apps are pre-installed, available in the Cruz Market or simply loaded by way of APK install files.

Sadly though in the end, that is the extend of the available information, and at this time the Velocity Micro website is offering little more than a teaser page with an option to give up you email in exchange for notification when the Cruz Tablet comes available.
