Palm’s CEO Jon Rubinstein to Get the Axe, But That Will Not Save Palm [Jon Rubinstein Is Rumored to be Retired; Is Palm Looking for a Replacement CEO?]

Palm is one very hot subject as the company still hasn’t figured out how it will come out of the predicament they find themselves in: they have a pretty interesting new OS, webOS, but not good enough handsets, the Palm Pre and Pixi, to attract consumers. Furthermore the company doesn’t have any other devices scheduled to arrive anytime soon so it’s hardly making any money.

For weeks now we’ve heard how various companies are thinking about purchasing Palm but just earlier today we’ve seen Palm’s CEO positive and optimistic: “Palm can survive as an independent company” he said, but he might not survive as Palm’s CEO. He came from Apple and tried to steer this company but was clearly unsuccessful at selling what was once believed to be the iPhone killer, the Palm Pre.

According to recent rumors Jon Rubinstein, Palm’s CEO may be replaced. Just a few days ago we heard how Palm was financially motivating top executives to stay aboard the sinking ship but it seems that the captain will not go down with it, but before it.

Naturally, nothing is confirmed so far and this could be just a pointless rumor mean to cause even more distress among the ranks of Palm. A savior could arrive soon and turn Palm, once again, into a profitable venture.

So far we hear that HTC is not interested in bidding for the company and that Lenovo is the main candidate for taking over Palm as it is ready to make a $1.3 billion bid for the creators of webOS.

It won’t be long until we find the answers to our questions as Palm will surely not be able to continue business as usual for a long time without a change.

Maybe change should arrive and Jon Rubinstein should step down as a CEO and continue his work as the hardware-oriented professional that he is. Where is a Sanjay Jha (the CEO that saved Motorola) when Palm needs one?

What do you think?
