Sprint iPad 4G Case Doesn’t Look Like It Can Support 4G Devices [Sprint 4G Case for iPad Gets Manhandled, Found Wanting; Photoshop Beats Real Life Again]
Recently we’ve shown you an interesting Sprint initiative, making money off Apple’s iPad. Briefly put, Sprint is basically trying to pitch its limited 4G network to iPad users that want more connectivity for their new toy. Sure we all need Internet at all times, but do we need that Overdrive mobile hotspot along with us? Here’s a picture that might convince you to try out Sprint’s 4G Case for the iPad that comes free of charge with that Overdrive device:

I can’t blame you if you fall for that pretty picture as it should help Sprint sell a lot of Overdrives in certain areas. Moreover, who wouldn’t want such a case since it’s so neatly crafted. But then we find this picture that shows the actual Sprint 4G Case for iPad:

And again, I won’t think any less of you if you hate the actual thing. It looks like you won’t have to go to all that trouble of actually paying for the Overdrive in order to get this free 4G Case for iPad because Best Buy will gladly sell you the case for the one-time fee of $0.01. A cent gets you the ugly case which you will most probably not want to use or even show to anyone else. The Overdrive costs, of course, extra, and I will acknowledge the fact that Sprint is really interested in selling the mobile hotspot, not the case!
If you don’t believe me then you should believe the guys that actually reviewed the thing themselves. Here’s what they say about this Sprint 4G Case for iPad:
There is no elastic. There is no fold-over flap. The case doesn’t even have the little bit of extra room that the one that Sprint is promoting seems to have, that would allow you to fit some papers in there along with your iPad. Instead, it’s just a simple zip-up case that resembles a poor man’s clutch purse (yes, poor men love them some clutch purses,) with a Sprint logo on the side. Rather than an elastic-fitted Overdrive pocket, you get a deeper pocket that closes with velcro.
Okay, Sprint, you’ve got some serious explaining to do. There’s something really wrong about this case which casts a shadow on the whole Overdrive for iPad promotion.
