New iPhone 4G/HD Now Said to Be Fairly Similar to the Lost Unit
Remember that lost iPhone 4G/HD which we’ve been talking about for days now? Well we have updates for you which you may or may not appreciate depending on whether you’ll want to be surprised by the fourth-gen iPhone or not. Word on the street right now is that the lost iPhone 4G was the near-final version.

It seems that the next-gen iPhone coming to us in June will most likely look very familiar. Will we still be surprised by what the iPhone 4G will have to offer? Well, luckily for us the lost unit was bricked before someone could record on camera the way it was supposed to work while out in the field.
Since the new iPhone has been actually lost on March 18, does Apple have enough time to make any changes to the handset?
John Gruber, whom you might already be familiar with for his popular Daring Fireball blog, talked to sources familiar with the matter about the barcode the prototype unit had, “N90_DVT-GE4X_0493”:
‘N90′ is Apple’s codename for the fourth-generation GSM iPhone, slated for release this June or July.’DVT’ stands for ‘design verification test,’ an Apple production milestone. The DVT milestone is very late in the game; based on this, I now believe that this unit very closely, if not exactly, resembles what Apple plans to release.
According to him, Apple requires extensive testing of its devices, particularly the iPhone, which needs even further verifications than any other gadget. And considering that the iPhone now accounts for well over 30% of Apple’s rising income, thorough iPhone testing is definitely something we can appreciate.
It will be interesting to see how the new iPhone will look like and WWDC 2010, apparently scheduled for sometime this June, will certainly answer all our questions.
On a different note, those of us that saw the full iPhone OS 4.0 keynote will surely remember that Steve Jobs didn’t look like a guy whose trusted crew lost at least one near-final iPhone 4G two weeks before the Apple event. Is Apple really concerned about this whole matter? The word on the street is that there’s one more iPhone 4G on the lose out there.
We will be back with more details of this never-ending saga as I am sure we haven’t seen the end of it yet.
