Halo: Reach Special Editions Announced [Next Halo Game Gets It's Limited Edition, Legendary Edition Detailed]
Special editions for games are pretty popular for these Triple-A console releases because people go crazy over them and (I’d imagine) the trinkets inside are actually quite cheap to make, despite the extra cost. Halo: Reach will be (is supposed to be) the last Halo game that Bungie will make, and now we know what bonuses will be in it’s special and limited edition retail SKUs.

Starting out is the Limited Edition of Halo: Reach. It all comes in a black themed ONI (Office of Naval Intelligence – agency from in-game) box with a personal journal of one of the game’s characters (Dr. Halsey) as well as other little documents that will add further depth to the game’s plot. People who buy this pack will also get some exclusive multiplayer Elite armor. This will cost $79.99 (vs. the $60 regular game).
The one your credit card company wants you to get is the impressive Legendary edition. It comes in a larger Marine-themed ammo crate-type box. Inside is the Limited Edition, but also a 10-pound statute featured five different Marine characters from the game, dubbed the “Noble Team”. Players in multiplayer will get some special Spartan armor, too. This one will cost you $159.99 (a $100 premium over the $60 game).
To recap some story on this – Bungie made the smash-hit Halo shooter series on the Xbox, but in 2007, became an independent company, buying out Microsoft’s shares in the company. The story at the time was that they didn’t want to be limited to producing games for the Xbox 360 – so it’s a bit odd that three years later they’re still producing Halo games for the Xbox 360 (I’m sure Microsoft paid them a ton of money).
At any rate, Halo: Reach is supposed to be the final Halo game from Bungie, a tender moment for many of them, I’m sure. I’m sure that Microsoft will continue to shill out Halo games from other studios, though.
