Dell Lightning Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Gets Leaked
Dell has leaked quite a few new smartphones these days showing that the company really means business. And the one we’re looking at right now is not powered by Google’s Android OS but by the competition’s Windows Phone 7. That’s right, folks, the Dell Lightning will be the first WP7 handset coming from the Texas-based company and I’m surprised it didn’t get lost in a bar.

The phone in the pictures here looks really hot and it’s definitely something I’d consider when shopping for smartphones. See that, RIM? That’s how you cleverly combine a touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard right there. You make a Storm3-like slider, not a clamshell that nobody likes.

The Lightning is a phone that deserves attention so here’s a full list of specs and features:
- 4.1-WVGA Samsung OLED touchscreen display
- 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD 8250 processor
- Tri-band UMTS / quad-band GSM – support for AT&T
- Dual-band UMTS/AWS and quad-band GSM – support for T-Mobile USA & the European Union
- 7.2Mbps HSDPA & 5.76Mbps HSUPA
- 5-megapixel camera with autofocus
- 1GB Flash ROM
- 512MB DDR SDRAM
- 8GB microSD card
- WLAN 802.11b/g/n
- Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
- USB 2.0
- Dimensions 64.4 x 121.6 x 14.9 mm
- 1400 mAh battery
- G-sensor, e-compass, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, FM radio,
- GPS
- Micro USB I/O
- Support for lots of video and audio files
- Windows Phone 7 OS
- Zune support
- Zune Marketplace
- Full support of Flash, Flash Video and Silverlight
- Multitouch
- Bing support
- Connected gaming through Xbox Live
Those specs and features definitely look good on paper and hopefully the Dell Lightning will be available as soon as possible. The device is said to arrive in Q4 2010 but we’re skeptical about it given that Flash support is touted all across the board. And Microsoft made it clear that Flash won’t happen on WP7 at launch.
Furthermore this baby is also rumored to be upgraded to LTE in 2011 which is one more reason to be impressed. I hope the competition is looking at all of this as this Lightning is making a huge impression so far. HTC, you move!
