Barnes & Noble Readies New Ad Campaign For The Nook
Regardless of your personal opinion on ebook readers, its safe to say that if you are reading this you at least know what devices such as the Amazon Kindle and Barnes & Noble nook are. Unfortunately that is not the same for everyone. I read on my Kindle on a daily basis, and when I take it outside the home I still often get questions about what it is and what it can do. That tells me something, the regular joe is interested, they just don’t know.

Enter Barnes & Noble and their latest television ad campaign which was just announced by press release as of today. In short, Barnes & Noble are going to start running television commercials on popular shows such as American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, Good Morning America, House and The Today Show. Additionally, they will be airing on some cable networks including A&E, Bravo, E! and more.
The commercials will be of the standard 30 second variety, but more importantly they are going to feature a simple story. The first commercial is called “My Story” and will focus on how a child starts with and grows up with Barnes & Noble. In other words, they seem to be focussing on how people already know and presumably trust Barnes & Noble. The “My Story” commercial begins with a little girl and follows her as she grows to a teen, college student, mom-to-be and then a mom and all the while she is reading books from Barnes & Noble.
The commercial then ends with the part about how nice a store-connected ebook reader can be — because you can take the store with you and purchase your book from just about anywhere. And then in the end, they also encourage the viewer to check out a nook at either a Barnes & Noble or Best Buy retail location.
Additionally, there are also some print and radio spots getting ready to launch as well. In the end, campaigns like this mixed in with these devices hitting more and more retail stores and we are bound to see the ebook reader become more popular.
