Telus Motorola Milestone Users Can Now Update To Android 2.1 [Motorola Releases Android 2.1 Update For Telus Milestone Users]

Today appears to be a good day for those using a Motorola Milestone on Telus as the Android 2.1 update has finally arrived. Sadly it has not come as an over the air update, but that little fact should not chase away any of the excitement. As far as not being over the air, not to worry. Here is what you will need to do in order to get and install the update. First head on over to the Motorola support website. Once there simply choose Telus, then Milestone, then click the little orange arrow below. That will take you to the software update page which contains both the link for download as well as the complete set of directions to get Android 2.1 installed.

To begin, make sure you have your USB data cable handy and be warned that “all third-party media, including but not limited to, music, pictures, ringtones, and screensavers, will be deleted.” Repeat, all of your data will be deleted during this process. Thankfully you will be given the opportunity to save that data during the process, but personally I would suggest making sure you have it all backed up even before you begin.

With that warning out of the way, hit the source link below and begin your download. And then once its all complete you will be all set with Android 2.1. Of course, having Android 2.1 means that you will have goodies such as the animated wallpapers, up to 9 home screens, a pre-installed Facebook app and widget, an updated Google Maps app, updated music player as well as additional Bluetooth support for initiating calls. A few other perks that come with Android 2.1 include better battery life, a new help center and some new security enhancements including the option to set up a PIN for access and the ability to have your phones data wiped locally if the wrong PIN is entered often enough.
