Japanese Have No Interest In Nintendo 3DS [Consumer Survey Says That Few Japanese Are Interested in 3DS, Nintendo's Next Virtual Boy Confirmed]

Nintendo’s 3DS handheld really came out of nowhere for those of us in the Western hemisphere – but the story goes that the 3D-ready handheld was long rumored in Japan, and Nintendo announced the handheld to in order to beat a leak. However, even with the rumors softening them up, the Japanese still aren’t interested in a 3DS.

Japanese research firm gooResearch was behind this survey. Their focus size was 1,059 people and they found that only 8.8% of Japanese consumers are interested in the Nintendo 3DS. It’s not like they didn’t know what it was, either. The survey explained what it was, and 42.1% of those in the survey reported already owning a current Nintendo DS.

The television industry is of course having it’s 3D revolution right now where all the big TV manufacturers are scrambling to come out with 3D TVs. I still believe that Avatar and its $2,717,023,267 in gross revenue are behind all of this.

Anyway, the news about the Japanese consumers and the Nintendo 3DS isn’t good news for Nintendo, but there are a few ways to take it. The Nintendo DS and the Wii were both lampooned by the press and developers when they were first announced.

We don’t always get Nintendo’s ideas at first, but usually they do follow through. The one time they didn’t also happened to be a 3D handheld. Nintendo’s Virtual Boy was an allegedly 3D handheld (when really, it wasn’t 3D or handheld) system that sold poorly and was a huge flop.

Nintendo is obviously hoping that their 3DS is more Wii than Virtual Boy, but this early consumer survey isn’t a good sign.

I think the picture you have is wrong.I saw a 3DS and it looked like a better desciption of the handheld system. In fact, none of this seems to make any sense to me.I dont know about your survey, but everything else seems to be false information.
