Dragon Dictation For Email Now Available For BlackBerry Users

So Much For Having A Full QWERTY Keyboard, Nuance Communications Release Dragon For Email In The BlackBerry App World

BlackBerry users will often remind other smartphone users just how nice the email set up is, and how easy it is to knock out an email thanks to the (in many cases) full hardware keyboard. That said, Nuance Communications has just taken away a little bit of need for that keyboard. Well, taken it away at least when it comes to pounding out an email. Of course I am referring to the recent release of the Dragon for Email app.

To begin with, the app which is currently at version 1.0 is available as a free download and can be found in the BlackBerry App World. And if you are at all familiar with Dragon by Nuance then you will most likely want to download this, but for those that may not be as familiar — the app will allow you to dictate your email messages. In other words you will be able to create new, reply to existing and in general send off email messages just by speaking into your phone.

The Dragon for Email app is powered by Dragon NaturallySpeaking and is said to be “up to five (5) times faster than typing on the keyboard.” Furthermore, it will allow you to dictate who the message is sent to, the subject line as well as the complete message. You will be able to compose new messages as well as reply to and forward existing messages.

A word of caution though, according to the blog post over on the Dragon website, the app will only be free for a limited time, however no mention was made as to when that limited time will be ending. In other words, you may want to grab this sooner than later. As for compatibility, it is listed as “all devices” which would include the Bold, Tour, Curve, Storm2 and more.
